This impressive, heavily veined beauty is a truly mesmerising plant which is very rarely seen. The unique leaves resemble ‘Dragon Scale’ and have soft white undersides.

Commonly known as Elephant Ears or Taro, Alocasia are native to the tropical rainforests of Asia and Eastern Australia.

The root system of Alocasia consist of tuberous rhizomes which store a huge amount excess water and nutrients. For this reason, Alocasia are more prone to overwatering in the UK and the compost should be carefully checked between waterings. They should also be kept at temperatures above 16C.
