An impressive, heavily-veined hybrid with unknown parents. This dwarf variety is shorter than other Alocasia, whilst the leaves are large and make a big impact.
Commonly known as Elephant Ears or Taro, Alocasia are native to the tropical rainforests of Asia and Eastern Australia.
The root system of Alocasia consist of tuberous rhizomes which store a huge amount excess water and nutrients. For this reason, Alocasia are more prone to overwatering in the UK and the compost should be carefully checked between waterings. They should also be kept at temperatures above 16C.
